Power Quality Improvement Using Dynamic Voltage Restorer in Distribution System

Abstract

The use of Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) technology as a practical remedy for the serious problems with power quality in electrical distribution systems is the main emphasis of this study. Sensitive industrial, commercial, and residential equipment's dependability and usefulness are seriously threatened by power quality disruptions such voltage sags, swells, and harmonic distortions. The study examines symmetrical and asymmetrical fault scenarios using PSCAD simulation software to determine which ones affect voltage stability and overall system performance. The effectiveness of the DVR in reducing disruptions and reestablishing voltage stability is examined during operation. In order to maximize energy efficiency and preserve load integrity during power outages, advanced voltage injection techniques such as presag and in-phase compensation are investigated. The results show that incorporating DVR into distribution networks improves power quality, ensuring validity and efficient operation. This study highlights the DVR's critical function in contemporary power systems and provides engineers and stakeholders with useful insights for building robust systems that increase resilience and dependability
